CONSIDERATIONS FOR INTELLIGENCE INCREASE

1. Feed Your Brain:

Healthy Diet: Think of your brain as a high-performance engine. It needs the right fuel!

Habits:

·       Prioritize real food: Load up on fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and lean protein. These provide essential nutrients like antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids that support brain health.

·       Limit processed foods, sugary drinks, and excessive unhealthy fats: These can impair cognitive function and lead to brain fog.

·       Consider brain-boosting foods:  Blueberries (antioxidants!), fatty fish (omega-3s!), dark chocolate (flavanols!), and nootropic supplements can have cognitive benefits.

Hydration: Even mild dehydration can affect your focus, memory, and overall cognitive performance.

Habits:

·       Carry a water bottle: Make it a constant companion and sip throughout the day.

·       Set reminders: If you tend to forget, use an app or set alarms to prompt you to drink water.

·       Choose water over sugary drinks: Soda and juice provide empty calories and can dehydrate you.

2. Train Your Mind:

Lifelong Learning: Keep your brain engaged and challenged!

Activities:

·       Take courses: Online or in-person, explore new subjects, or deepen your knowledge in areas that interest you. (Platforms like The Great Courses, Coursera, edX, and Khan Academy offer a wealth of options.)

·       Listen to lectures.

·       Learn a new language:  This is a fantastic way to challenge your brain and open up new cultural experiences.

·       Learn music: Learn to play an instrument and music theory.

·       Read widely: Explore different genres, authors, and perspectives. (More on this below!)

·       Learn everything: Opportunities to learn should be embraced wholeheartedly.

·       Embrace non-duality: Train your brain to think logically and escape the traps of two-valued logic. Do not fall for specious rationale or surface-level thinking.

·       Explore types of intelligence: Scientific, artistic, musical, interpersonal, aesthetic, kinesthetic, naturalistic, logical, intrapersonal, mathematical, linguistic, technological, humor, social, emotional, philosophical, and others.

Brain Exercises: Just like physical workouts strengthen your body, mental exercises can improve your cognitive abilities.

Activities:

·       Puzzles: Sudoku, crosswords, and jigsaw puzzles—they all help with problem-solving and critical thinking. (*critical thinking is not negative doubt or blind skepticism)

·       Memory games: Try memorizing lists, playing card games, or using memory-training apps.

·       Strategic games: Chess, Go, and even video games that require strategy and planning can sharpen your mind.

·       Brain apps and programs: Try programs that offer puzzles and memory games to enhance intelligence.

·       Listen to music: Music is for entertainment but also engages the mind.

Meditation: A calm mind is a focused mind. Meditation can improve attention, reduce stress, and enhance emotional regulation.

Habits:

·       Start with short sessions: 10 minutes of daily meditation can make a difference.

·       Find a quiet space: Minimize distractions and create a peaceful environment.

·       Use guided meditations: Teachers, apps, and media can help structure meditation if needed.

·       Try binaural beats: Binaural beats can manipulate brain frequencies.

·       Try many different styles and methods: Meditation is not a singular path. There are many tools.

3. Boost Your Body:

Exercise: Physical activity benefits your body and your brain!

Habits:

·       Find activities you enjoy:  Whether it's running, hiking, yoga, or sports, make exercise a regular part of your life.

·       Aim for moderate-intensity exercise most days of the week.

·       Incorporate strength training: This helps build muscle and bone density and increases neurological function, which is important for overall health and well-being.

Sleep: Sleep is crucial for memory consolidation and cognitive function.

Habits:

·       Establish a regular sleep schedule: Go to bed and wake up around the same time each day.

·       Create a relaxing bedtime routine:  Wind down with meditation, reading, or listening to calming music.

·       Optimize your sleep environment: Make sure your bedroom is dark, quiet, and cool. Try white noise, binaural beats, or isochronic tones.

4. Engage with the World:

Positive Social Interaction: Connecting with others is vital for cognitive and emotional well-being.

Habits:

·       Spend time with loved ones: Engage in meaningful conversations, share experiences, and have fun together.

·       Join groups and communities: Connect with people who share your interests, whether it's a book club, a sports team, social media, or a volunteer organization.

·       Be a good listener: Pay attention to what others have to say and show genuine interest in their thoughts and feelings.

Engage in New Experiences: Novelty and challenge stimulate your brain and promote learning.

Activities:

·       Travel: Explore new places, cultures, and food.

·       Try new hobbies: Pick up a musical instrument, learn to paint, or learn to cook.

·       Step outside your comfort zone: Challenge yourself to do things that are new and unfamiliar. Change routines.

5. Cultivate Good Habits:

Read Regularly: Reading expands your knowledge, improves your vocabulary, and enhances your critical thinking skills.

Habits:

·       Set aside dedicated reading time: 30 minutes a day can make a big difference.

·       Explore different genres: Don't limit yourself to one type of book. Branch out and discover new authors and subjects. Balance fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. Read plays.

·       Dive deeper: Discuss your reading with others and gain new insights. Dive deeper into the topics explored. Learn about the author or time periods the book was set in. Treat each book like an audit worthy of deeper exploration.

Embrace the Arts and Sciences: Engage with different forms of knowledge and expression.

Activities:

·       Visit museums and art galleries: Immerse yourself in art, history, and culture.

·       Attend concerts and plays: Experience the power of music and theater.

·       Explore scientific concepts: Read articles, watch documentaries, or attend lectures on topics that fascinate you. Physics, chemistry, engineering, nature, and astronomy will help you understand your world better.

Reduce Stress: Stress disrupts the performance of the mind.

        Habits:

·       Avoid politics: Politics is a theater and does not inform or engage one in reality.

·       Avoid toxic people: Liars and losers will be of no benefit to your mind.

·       Create an environment of minimal stress: Do not fall into societal traps that hinder happiness.

Be Curious: Cultivate a thirst for knowledge and a desire to understand the world around you.

Habits:

·       Ask questions: Don't be afraid to seek information and explore new ideas.

·       Challenge assumptions: Think critically and question the status quo.

·       Be open to new perspectives: Be willing to change your mind in the light of valid information.

·       Look for commonalities between topics, subjects, or ideas rather than differences.

Challenge Yourself: Push your boundaries and strive for continuous improvement.

Habits:

·       Set goals: Identify areas where you want to grow and develop.

·       Step outside your comfort zone: Embrace new challenges and opportunities for learning.

·       Don't be afraid to fail: Failure is a natural part of the learning process. Failure is success. Learn from your mistakes and keep moving forward.

Title: The Longing

Synopsis:

In a captivating blend of reality and the fantastical, The Longing delves deep into the emotional journey of Ace, a man haunted by visions of past lives, alien encounters, and mystical experiences. Struggling to discern reality from illusion, the story skillfully winds through different timelines and dimensions, exploring reality and the potential paths of life. This intricate and deeply moving story is irresistible, drawing you into its complex world.

Ace's struggle with alcohol abuse, insecurity, his tumultuous relationship with his mother who suffers from a fading mind, and his yearning to understand his place in the universe characterize his life. Entwined with his journey is Judy, a young woman with whom he shares a profound, yet enigmatic love. Together, they become each other's guiding hand towards a new world, escaping their own limitations.

Throughout the novel, Ace's surreal and transformative experiences transcend time and space. He finds himself in various historical and fantastical settings, from the Old West to an alien planet. Each journey reveals deeper layers of his psyche and the true nature of his longing, driving him toward realization and the next step in his journey.

The essence of the story lies in the theme of "longing" - a deep yearning for something that is beyond one's reach in the current reality. This sense of longing is brilliantly captured in Ace's lifelong dream of exploring life beyond the here and now, and in Judy’s need for a larger world, which drives their unrelenting quest for the unknown and the desire to break free from the shackles of their troubled lives.

The narrative explores the complex and fragile nature of human relationships, particularly through Ace's connection with Judy and his mother, the characters and mentors he engages along the way, Judy’s relationship with her father, and the confines of small-town life. These relationships experience emotional turbulence yet rest on a foundation of deep understanding and affection.

In a touching turn of events, the story concludes with Ace's childhood message in a bottle, discovered years later. It symbolizes the fulfillment of his lifelong yearning and the cyclical nature of life and dreams.

The Longing weaves a complex yet beautiful fabric of human sentiment through melancholy, joy, introspective musings, and the quest for significance beyond the immediate. It invites readers to reflect on their aspirations, fears of the unknown, and their relationship with the mysterious, leaving a spark of curiosity that lingers long after the final page.
